Petition to calm traffic on neighborhood streets via mid-block street narrowing

We the undersigned petition the City of Berkeley to place bollards at each side of our block, near mid-block, narrowing the street to allow only one way traffic where they are placed. These bollards will be placed on a trial basis, in an effort to slow traffic consistent with neighborhood peace and safety as articulated in the City Plan. The Bollards will only be placed with the approval of the residents whose houses they front. The Bollards will be placed for a one year trial. At the end of the trial period the bollards will either be removed (if unsuccessful) or replaced by landscaped peninsulas (if successful), success being determined by 60% resident approval on a block basis.
